Grooming Report 2007-2008

Last year (2006-2007) started out as a disappointing year as far as winters go. December and January were unseasonably warm, however, late January the weather turned cold and we received some good amounts of snowfall. We actually started grooming the last week of January and groomed until February 20th, so we had about three weeks of fairly good riding. We groomed about 1480 miles of trails last year, with the cost of fuel amounted to $3,053.00

I (Ledger) hope most of you got to spend some time riding our trails. When we got our first snow, we were bombarded with hundreds of snowmobilers. We had some trouble catching up with the trail grooming. It takes about three days to groom our while trial system. Smooth trails do not happen overnight.

Most of our groomer operators also have jobs, and their time to groom is limited. We are always looking for people who have some experience running farm or construction equipment that might be interested in helping with the grooming. One of the problems we have is that when the snow does come, people are not always available, so the more operators we have, the better it is! The best time to groom is after midnight so the trails have a chance to setup. If you are interested in helping out with the grooming, you can call me (Ledger) at 269-663-2109. We will try to train you before the season. Let's hope the 2007-2008 snowmobile season is a good one and we get a ton of snow!
